In a recent editorial in the Omaha World-Herald, author Mike Kelly mentioned that no matter where he goes in the U.S., he is accustomed to seeing many Werner trucks on the road. But while on a recent vacation to the east coast, he was surprised to see one making history in a world-renowned museum.
Did you know that Werner Enterprises is part of an exhibition at the Smithsonian National Museum of American History in Washington, D.C.? A 1984 Peterbilt 359 model tractor and flatbed trailer are part of a permanent exhibit, “America on the Move”, that has been on display since November 19, 2003.
The exhibition is a multimedia educational experience that depicts the role that transportation has played in the nation’s development. Visitors can enjoy the sights and sounds of transportation in the U.S. from 1876 to 1999.
