Drive Blue Honors Fallen Officers in Blue

On Friday May 20, Horses of Honor Omaha, a public art exhibit of seven life-size horse statues honoring fallen Omaha police officers, was unveiled to the public in Turner Park at Midtown Crossing.

As a proud supporter of the Omaha community, Werner Enterprises sponsored fallen officer Jimmy Wilson Jr. who was slain during a routine traffic stop on Aug. 8, 1995. Wilson’s high school art teacher Paul Hundtoft painted Werner’s statue. Werner Maintenance associates Brian Forbes, special projects manager, and Ron Bryant, body mechanic, applied the final clear coat to the Werner statue.

A tribute concert followed the exhibit’s unveiling on Saturday. The project will be displayed for a year. The horse statues will be sold in spring of 2017 with the proceeds benefitting the Omaha Police Foundation.
