Nebraska State Truck Driving Competitor – Terry Durham

Professional Werner driver Terry Durham will be competing in the Five-Axle class at the Nebraska State Trucking Driving Championships in Grand Island, Nebraska, on June 6.

Durham, a Werner driver since 2008, is actively working toward his first million accident-free miles. A five-time Nebraska State Truck Driving Champion, Durham has become a seasoned competitor who has won twice in the Straight class, twice in the Sleeper class and once in the Five-axle class.

The Gatesville, Texas, resident enjoys spending his free time with his girlfriend, Teresa, and pursuing their favorite hobby – geocaching.

Nebraska State Truck Driving Competitor – Rebecca Heck

Professional Werner driver Rebecca Heck will compete in the Sleeper class at the Nebraska State Truck Driving Championships in Grand Island, Nebraska, on June 6.

Since joining the Werner team in 2006, Heck trained on and currently assists with a Dedicated account, work she finds challenging yet extremely rewarding.

In less than a year, Heck became a coed trainer and has since become an owner operator. Heck has twice been named Trainer of the Month, has more than 750,000 accident-free miles and placed third in her class at the 2014 Nebraska State Truck Driving Championships. She also currently serves as a captain on Werner’s 2015-2016 Road Team.

The wife and mother of four resides in Illinois and enjoys spending time with her family.

Nebraska State Truck Driving Competitor – Tim Dean

Professional Werner driver Tim Dean will be competing in the Three-Axle class at the Nebraska State Truck Driving Championships in Grand Island, Nebraska, on June 6.

Dean is the epitome of a seasoned and professional driver, and Werner and the industry benefit from his strong leadership skills, valuable feedback and commitment to safety.

A Werner driver since 1988, Dean has served as a Werner Road Team captain and mentor since 2005 and currently is a Road Team lead. He was selected as a member of the ATA’s prestigious America’s Road Team in 2009-2010. In addition, Dean is a seven-time Nebraska State Truck Driving Class Champion and recipient of the 3 million accident-free miles award. Dean and his family reside in Griswold, Iowa.

Werner Professional Drivers to Compete in Nebraska State Truck Driving Championships

Save the date for the Nebraska State Truck Driving Championships and support our drivers as they compete Saturday, June 6, at Fonner Park in Grand Island, Nebraska.

Werner Professional Driver Receives 2015 Citizen Driver Award

Werner professional driver Micheal Sheeds of Bandera, Texas, has been selected as a recipient of the 2015 Citizen Driver Award. Presented by TravelCenters of America LLC, operator of the TA® and Petro Stopping Centers® travel center brands, the award recognizes professional drivers who inspire public respect and admiration for the truck driving profession.

“Micheal is a great example, both personally and professionally, of an outstanding individual who makes a positive impact,” said Derek Leathers, Werner president and chief operating officer. “He is extremely deserving of this honor, and we are proud to have him serve as a representative of our organization.”

Sheeds was recognized for his exemplary citizenship in the driving community, personal and professional leadership, community involvement and dedication to safety. He was honored at a special event at the 2015 Mid-America Trucking Show held March 26-28 in Louisville, Kentucky.

Among other recognition and distinctions, Sheeds will be the guest of honor in San Antonio, Texas, when a Petro truck stop bearing his name will be unveiled. A driver for Werner Enterprises since 1990, Sheeds has driven more than 3 million accident-free miles and trained more than 225 students.

2 Million Safe Driving Miles: Wesley Swisher

When Werner says we’re family, we mean it, and professional driver Wesley Swisher is an excellent example. A 2 million safe driving miles award recipient at the June 20 Second Quarter Associate Recognition Ceremony, Swisher is actually one of two in his family to achieve the honor, along with his brother, professional driver Jackie Burns.

As a standout, reliable person who embodies what a Werner driver should be, Swisher has trained more than 200 students, passing on his knowledge and his professionalism.

This 16-year Air Force veteran has enjoyed a career with Werner just as long, starting in 1998.

“I am proud to be a part of this company,” Swisher said. “I look forward to having a long future here.”

What makes Swisher most proud is his family: wife, Susan; three sons –one currently serving his third tour in Afghanistan; one daughter, who is in the Navy; and six grandchildren.
