Werner professional driver Micheal Sheeds of Bandera, Texas, has been selected as a recipient of the 2015 Citizen Driver Award. Presented by TravelCenters of America LLC, operator of the TA® and Petro Stopping Centers® travel center brands, the award recognizes professional drivers who inspire public respect and admiration for the truck driving profession.
“Micheal is a great example, both personally and professionally, of an outstanding individual who makes a positive impact,” said Derek Leathers, Werner president and chief operating officer. “He is extremely deserving of this honor, and we are proud to have him serve as a representative of our organization.”
Sheeds was recognized for his exemplary citizenship in the driving community, personal and professional leadership, community involvement and dedication to safety. He was honored at a special event at the 2015 Mid-America Trucking Show held March 26-28 in Louisville, Kentucky.
Among other recognition and distinctions, Sheeds will be the guest of honor in San Antonio, Texas, when a Petro truck stop bearing his name will be unveiled. A driver for Werner Enterprises since 1990, Sheeds has driven more than 3 million accident-free miles and trained more than 225 students.
