Getting accurate information is very important and can sometimes get muddied by rumors and gossip. This is true in any profession. Be wary of truck stop gossip and messages on the internet. The best sources for information are your Fleet Managers or other departments within Werner. You can be assured the information you receive will be accurate, which allows you to be more informed and prepared.
Have you ever walked into a driver lounge and one driver seems to have all of the answers, without being asked? Recently, we had the privilege of meeting with one of our veteran drivers who has been with the company for 23 years. When I asked him what his secret was for his always positive outlook he said, “Trucking is like a good marriage, you are in it together and nobody’s perfect. If you stick through the tough times, there will be good times. Funny thing is the good times don’t make the headlines.”
This particular driver had left Werner and tried driving for other companies. He ended up coming back and 23 years later, is a happy professional driver. When he looked back on his experiences early in his career, he realized he had gotten caught up in the rumor mill. Instead of going off his own experiences, he let others influence him. This is a mistake that he said will never happen again.
Remember to get your information from the source, the source being the company who supports you. We have your best interests in mind and the communication between associates and professional drivers will be honest and forthcoming.
We care. Werner cares.
